Container dwell times at the San Pedro Bay Port Complex remained consistent through November 2025, reflecting ongoing operational stability as the holiday season reached its peak. Both truck- and rail-destined cargo continued to move efficiently, supported by sustained coordination among marine terminal operators, drayage partners, and rail providers.
Cargo destined for local delivery via truck spent an average of 2.62 days at marine terminals in November. This marks a modest improvement from October’s 2.74-day average and reflects continued progress compared to the 3.10-day average recorded in November 2024.
Rail-destined containers averaged 3.73 days, an increase from October’s 3.31 days but still significantly lower than the 7.67-day rail dwell time reported in November 2024. The sustained, year-over-year reduction underscores the steady improvements achieved in intermodal rail performance since last year’s peak.
“The November results demonstrate the continued reliability and resilience of our gateway,” said Natasha Villa, External Affairs Manager of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA). “These dwell times reflect the commitment of marine terminals and supply chain partners to maintaining fluid cargo movement.”
